January 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Amazon for, among other things, allegedly failing to adequately disclose that customers who purchase products from its website are charged an additional “Amazon Prime” membership fee. Specifically, the named plaintiff alleges that when he purchased items from Amazon, the company enrolled him in the Amazon Prime membership and charged him over $100 without his permission or knowledge.
