November 2013: A class-action lawsuit was filed against American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) for allegedly misleading donors. Specifically, the complaint alleges that ABCF represents that donations will help people in need pay for breast cancer screenings and diagnostic tests when, according to plaintiffs, only 5.3% of the approximately $80 million raised by the Foundation has made it to those in need. In addition, the complaint alleges that ABCF uses a majority of the donations to pay for-profit companies to solicit more donations. (Janovick et al v.
