Arriva Medical promotes its “pain-free, talking meter.” Plus, if you “call now,” they’ll also ship you a “free” Betty Crocker diabetes cookbook.
But “pain-free” doesn’t mean you don’t have to prick yourself anywhere — it just means you don’t have to prick your finger, making “pain-free” a suspect claim. From Arriva’s own website:
[A]ll meters need a small sample of blood and the only way to get blood is through a stick. You don’t have to stick your fingers anymore but you will have to stick an alternate test site, either your forearm, palm, or thigh. Anyone who tells you differently is simply lying to you.
And a cookbook is not really “free” if you first need to buy something.
