July 2020: A federal judge granted final approval of the settlement agreement.
March 2020: A federal judge preliminarily approved a settlement agreement that would provide class members with proof of purchase with a $1 refund for up to 20 products purchased and class members without proof of purchase with a $0.50 refund for up to 10 products purchased. In addition, the company agreed to make changes to its marketing – including adding “with other natural flavors” to flavoring labels – for a period of four years. September 2019: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Califia Farms for allegedly deceptively marketing that its vanilla almondmilk products are made with vanilla when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredients list does not include vanilla and instead reveals that the products contain unspecified “Natural Flavors.” (Cicciarella et al v. Califia Farms, LLC, Case No. 19-cv-8785, S.D.N.Y.)
