Carrot Cake Donettes from Hostess

In August 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Hostess Brands for allegedly falsely advertising its Carrot Cake Donettes as carrot cake when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredients list does not include carrots but rather reveals that the product is flavored with unspecified “natural and artificial flavor.” Plaintiffs also claim that the product contains more added sugar than carrot cake desserts. (Lauchung-Nacarino et al v. Hostess Brands, Inc. et al, Case No. 20-cv-5971, N.D. Cal.)
