November 2019: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Charter Communications for allegedly misleadingly representing that the company gives new customers in California a “free” internet modem to use in their home when, according to plaintiffs, customers are charged a fee to either have a professional install the service or a one-time, self-installation fee to install the service themselves. (Baird et al v. Charter Communications, Inc. d/b/a Charter Communications (CCI), Inc., Case No. 19STCV41042, California State Court – Los Angeles)
