Chewy.com

Is your furry friend running out of food? Or are you looking to buy your beloved pet a treat or a toy? Well look no further, because Chewy.com offers “fast free shipping” on “everything your pet needs.”

Or so they say in the TV ad above.

As it turns out, Chewy.com is all bark and no bite when it comes to its “fast free shipping” because not all pet products are eligible.

Fine print that flashes at the bottom of the screen reads: “Free shipping on all orders over $49. 1-2 day shipping on most orders. Visit Chewy.com for details.”

TINA.org reader Dana D. learned the limitations of Chewy.com’s “fast free shipping” firsthand when she went to order a $15 bag of dog food and found that it would cost an additional $5 for shipping.

Dana said the fine print “is not something anyone can read.” Indeed, throughout the course of the 30-second TV ad, the disclaimer appears twice, once for two seconds and again for one second. We needed to paws — sorry, pause — the video in order to read it.

Your Chewy.com order also may not ship as fast as the disclaimer indicates it will. A shipping FAQ on Chewy.com notes that orders that “require prescription approval or personalization may take longer to ship” than 1-2 days.

TINA needs to do an expose on “free Shipping”. No such thing. Should be forced to read “Cost of shipping included in price of item.” Until Fed Ex or UPS delivers retailers’ shipments for free, it’s not a real thing.
