How a TINA.org Reader Tip Led to a Record Penalty for False Made in USA Claims
FTC says civil penalty against Williams-Sonoma is “the largest ever in a Made in USA case.”
In September 2017, a false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against American Array Solar. The complaint alleges that the company deceptively represents that consumers who install solar panels will save on their energy bills when, according to plaintiffs, they do not receive the promised savings. In addition, the complaint alleges that non-English speaking consumers are required to sign contracts that are written in the English, in violation of California law. (Romero et al v. Amerian Array Solar, Inc., Case No. 17-cv-1198, E. D. CA.)
