In July 2014, a class-action lawsuit against Bumble Bee Foods was transferred from state court to federal court. The complaint, which was originally filed in May 2014, alleges that, among other things, the company misleadingly labels products – including Bumble Bee Tiny Shrimp and Bumble Bee Lunch on the Run Tuna Salad – as an “excellent source of Omega 3” without meeting the minimum regulatory requirements to make such claims. (Bennett et al v. Bumble Bee Foods, LLC, Case No. 14-cv-05218, W. D. AR.).
