In April 2016, the named plaintiff in a false advertising class-action lawsuit against Clif Bar & Company voluntarily dismissed the action When a complaint is dismissed with prejudice, it cannot be refiled.. The lawsuit, which was originally filed in state court in March 2016 and transferred to federal court in April 2016, alleged, among other things, that the company markets CLIF and LUNA energy and protein bars as healthy without meeting state and federal requirements to make such a claim. The reasons for the dismissal have not yet been disclosed. (Perieff et al v. Clif Bar & Company, Case No. 16-cv-1708, N. D. CA.)
