Dicamba-Resistant Crop Systems

In May 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Monsanto Company regarding its crop system composed of Monsanto’s seeds and various herbicides – including Monsanto’s Xtendimax, BASF’s Engenia, and DuPont’s Fexapan – that are designed to be used together and resistant to a synthetic herbicide dicamba. Among other things, the complaint alleges that the company misleadingly markets the crop system as safe to “nearby crops” when, according to plaintiffs, the system causes massive damage to the crop of farmers who did not use the dicamba-resistant seeds. (Tipton et al v. Monsanto Company et al, Case No. 18-cv-2348, W.D. Tenn.)
