Doritos Dinamita Chile Limón Flavored Rolled Tortilla Chips

When life gives PepsiCo lemons, it names a product after them, throws all the lemons away and uses limes instead. Despite the name of the product, there’s no limón (or lemon) in Doritos Dinamita Chile Limón Flavored Rolled Tortilla Chips. You can blame marketing.

“The naming of our snacks comes from the marketing team,” a PepsiCo customer service representative told a TINA.org reader according to a transcript of an email the consumer provided. “Although we don’t know what their rationale was for using limón instead of lima (the Spanish word for lime, an actual ingredient in the chips that is pictured on the bag), I’ll be sure to share your feedback with them.”

While there is some disagreement over the correct way to say lime in Spanish, the Spanish word for lemon in most dialects is limón. TINA.org had hoped to clear things up with PepsiCo but we have yet to get a response to our inquiry. Check back for updates.
