Fragrant Jewels

Reader alerts TINA.org to ring candle purveyor.

Fragrant Jewels claims its ring candles can win you a jewel worth $10,000 and that’s in addition to the guaranteed foil-wrapped ring inside your candle. On its website, the Los Angeles-based company gives step-by-step instructions on how to reach the ring (hint: you light the candle and let it burn) and shows an image of the jewel you can expect to exhume from the hardened wax (pictured above).

But in truth the ring you receive may look nothing like the ring that is featured prominently on the company’s homepage. After a reader emailed TINA.org expressing concern over the implication that that ring is the hidden ring in all candles, TINA.org confirmed through visitor posts on Fragrant Jewels’ Facebook page that the rings indeed vary.

Another thing that varies? How one can go about obtaining a code to enter the contest that is giving away six diamond rings worth $10,000 apiece. While the embedded ring comes with a code that you enter on the website for your chance to win, you can also request one via mail without even purchasing a candle, according to sweepstakes rules.
