Free Trials of Audible AudioBooks

January 2021: This case was dismissed.

November 2020: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Audible alleging that its “free” trials of audiobooks violate California state law by:

  • Failing to clearly and conspicuously present the terms of its automatic renewal and continuous service offers,
  • Charging consumers’ credit and debit cards without getting their affirmative consent to automatically renew charges, and
  • Failing to provide consumers with the terms of its automatic renewal and continuous service offers, including the cancellation policy.

(Licea et al v. Audible, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-2360, C.D. Cal.)
