May 2016: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Goya Foods Inc. for allegedly falsely labeling Goya octopus products – including Octopus in Garlic, Octopus in Olive Oil, Octopus in Pickled Sauce (Marinara), and Octopus in Hot Sauce – as containing octopus when they actually contain jumbo squid. (Fonseca et al v. Goya Foods Inc., Case No. 16-cv-2559, N. D. CA.)
