September 2014: A federal judge granted final approval of this class-action settlement.

July 2014: A federal judge preliminarily approved the settlement to this class-action lawsuit. The settlement terms are discussed in more detail below. For more information, go to www.NaturalClassSettlement.com. The hearing for final approval is scheduled for September 2, 2014.

May 2014: The parties reached a settlement agreement and moved for preliminary court approval. According to the proposed settlement terms, class members with proof of purchase may receive $0.50 for every product purchased (class members without proof of purchase may receive a maximum recovery of $25). In addition, the company has agreed, for a period of just three years, to stop falsely labeling and advertising products as “all natural” or as containing “nothing artificial” when they contain certain ingredients, such as hexane-processed soy ingredients. For more information, go to www.NaturalClassSettlement.com.

November 2013: A class-action lawsuit filed against Kashi and Kellogg making false advertising allegations is set to go to trial in early 2014. The complaint, originally filed in August 2011, alleges that the company misleadingly advertises products – including Kashi waffles, GoLean Bars, TLC cookies, and Heart to Heart Cereal – as “all natural” when they actually contain artificial and synthetic ingredients. (Astiana et al v. Kashi Company, Kashi Sales, LLC, and Kellogg Company, Case No. 11-cv-01967, S. D. CA.).
