TINA.org investigated Kyäni, Inc. (“Kyani”), a multilevel marketing company that sells and markets health products and supplements, and discovered a host of issues
. Chief among them are (1) the use of unsubstantiated health and disease-treatment claims about the Kyani products, such as being able to treat, cure, or alleviate the symptoms of cancer, anxiety, autism, multiple sclerosis, and a plethora of other medical ailments, and (2) the use of deceptive, atypical, and unsubstantiated income claims regarding the financial gains consumers will achieve by becoming distributors.
As a result of these findings, TINA.org sent a warning letter to Kyani on March 28, 2016 notifying it of TINA.org’s findings and asking that the company remedy the deceptive marketing immediately. However, the company did not respond or make any noticeable changes to its marketing. Accordingly, on April 5, 2016, TINA.org filed a complaint letter with the Federal Trade Commission and Idaho Attorney General urging them to take action.
