Summary of Action investigated Le-Vel Brands, LLC, a Texas-based multilevel marketing company, and found that it uses unsubstantiated, and therefore deceptive, health and disease-treatment claims to market its flagship product line of supplements, shakes, and patches, known collectively as the Thrive experience, as well as unsubstantiated and exaggerated income claims to market its business opportunity. compiled more than 50 examples of unsubstantiated health and disease-treatment claims made about Thrive products, such as being able to treat, cure, or alleviate the symptoms of anxiety, depression, thyroid issues, the flu, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, eczema, and diabetes, to name a few. also compiled 140 examples of atypical earnings claims made about the Le-Vel business opportunity, such as claims that its distributors can become millionaires, get out of debt, go on extravagant vacations, and drive luxury cars, among other things.

As a result of these findings, filed a complaint with the Direct-Selling Self Regulatory Council (DSSRC) on March 11, 2020 urging it to take action. On August 31, 2020, the DSSRC issued a decision stating that Le-Vel and its distributors were making inappropriate health and income claims. The decision concluded by stating that “DSSRC will continue to monitor the messages disseminated by the Company’s promoters…and will take prompt and necessary steps…should it identify an ongoing proliferation of unsupported product or income claims…”
