Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
In May 2015, a federal judge dismissed a false advertising class-action lawsuit against Beam Suntory, Inc. and Maker’s Mark Distillery, Inc. The complaint, which was originally filed in December 2014, alleged that the companies marketed the whiskey as “handmade” when it is actually made using machines. The judge found that the plaintiffs did not “articulate a consistent, plausible explanation of what they understood ‘handmade’ to mean in this context.” (Salters et al v.
