In December 2020, a class-action lawsuit
was filed against Sargento Foods Inc. for allegedly misleadingly marketing that cheeses – including Monterey Jack Natural Cheese, Natural Double Cheddar Cheese, Colby Natural Cheese, and others – contain “No Antibiotics” when, according to plaintiffs, the milk used to make the cheeses comes from cows given antibiotics resulting in the cheeses sometimes containing antibiotics.
