In January 2020, a class-action lawsuit
was filed against Bank of America for allegedly falsely promising accountholders that it does not charge overdraft fees on non-recurring debit card and ATM transactions when, according to plaintiffs, the bank charges overdraft fees on one-time purchases from retailers such as Starbucks.
