Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer Products

In February 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Gojo Industries for allegedly misleadingly marketing that Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer products “Kill[] 99.99% of Illness Causing Germs” when, according to the complaint, there are no scientific studies linking killing bacteria on the skin with preventing any of the claimed conditions. Plaintiffs also claim that the company markets the products as drugs without FDA approval. (Gonzalez et al v. Gojo Industries, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-888, S.D.N.Y.)
