Saliva Collection Kit/Personal Genome Service
March 2014: Another class-action lawsuit was filed against 23andMe alleging that the company deceptively markets its Saliva Collection Kit/Personal Genome Service. Among other things, the complaint alleges that the company misleadingly represents that the product will provide consumers with reliable health reports for over 240 conditions and specific health recommendations when, according to plaintiffs, the test results are not reliable or accurate. (Spreter et al v. 23andMe, Inc., Case No. 14-cv-0487, S. D. CA.).
Later in March, the case was transferred to another California court. (Case No. 14-cv-1455, N. D. CA.)
