Shutterfly Deals on Groupon

September 2018: A federal judge granted Shutterfly’s motion to compel arbitration and stayed the proceedings.

January 2018: This lawsuit was transferred from state court to federal court. (Case No. 18-cv-266, N. D. CA.)

December 2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Shutterfly for allegedly deceptively advertising promotional deals on the Groupon website. According to the complaint, the marketing deceptively represents that customers who purchase the Groupon deals will receive a credit to be used toward purchases on the Shutterfly website without adequately disclosing that the Groupon deal is a promotional code that cannot be combined with other sales or promotions, such as free shipping codes. (Taylor et al v. Shutterfly Inc., Case No. 17-cv-320338, California State Court – Santa Clara County)
