In May 2020, a class-action lawsuit
was filed against South State Bank for allegedly misleadingly representing that it charges only one overdraft and non-sufficient funds fee on a single transaction when an account does not have enough money in it to cover the transaction when, according to the complaint, the bank charges such fees on transactions that do not overdraw an account and routinely charges multiple fees on a single transaction. , Case No. 20-cv-1993, D.S.C.)
