Storage Capacity of Apple Devices with the iOS 8 Operating System
November 2018: A federal judge dismissed this case with prejudice finding that the complaint failed to state a plausible claim.
December 2014: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Apple alleging, among other things, that the company misleadingly advertised the storage capacity of 8GB and 16GB iPhones, iPads, and iPods with the iOS 8 operating system. According to the complaint, as much as 23.1% of the advertised storage capacity is consumed by the operating system and unavailable for consumers. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint in May 2018.) (Orshan et al v. Apple Inc., Case No. 14-cv-05659, N.D. Cal.).
