Vapor Galleria

A reader submitted this ad received in the mail from a local vape shop. The ad is from Vapor Galleria, which has several retail stores in Texas. Its ad is making several questionable claims.

Let’s break them down.

First, whether or not e-cigarettes can be described as “the gift of good health” is hotly debated, as several studies have pointed to health risks associated with vaping and one state, California, has issued a health warning about e-cigarettes advising consumers not to smoke them. The FDA maintains that the risks associated with e-cigarettes have not yet been fully studied. At issue is the adverse health effects associated with nicotine and the chemicals in the vapor that is emitted.

Second, while Vapor Galleria advocates using e-cigs to quit smoking, the FDA has not approved any e-cigarette as a smoking cessation therapy and is in fact investigating companies making such claims.

Third, the shop is making some very bold health statements in this ad above regarding what happens to your body when you vape. But where’s the backup for these claims? In truth these results can come from quitting smoking, (note this very similar CDC poster).
