Wegmans French Vanilla Ice Cream

In March 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Wegmans Food Markets for allegedly misleadingly marketing its French Vanilla Ice Cream by representing that the ice cream contains “No Artificial Colors, Flavors or Preservatives” when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredients list shows that, instead of containing vanilla, the product contains “Natural Flavor.” Plaintiffs also claim that the ice cream contains a coloring ingredient that is often used in cheddar cheese (specifically, annatto) to make the color of the ice cream look like it contains more vanilla than it does. (Cohen et al v. Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., Case No. 20-cv-1409, E.D.N.Y.)
