Wegmans Vanilla Ice Creams

In October 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Wegmans Food Markets for allegedly misleadingly marketing vanilla ice creams as containing vanilla when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredient lists do not include vanilla and list “Natural Flavor” instead. Plaintiffs also claim that many of the products contain coloring ingredients (annatto and turmeric extracts) to make the color of the ice creams look more like they were flavored with vanilla. (Steele et al v. Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., Case No. 19-cv-9227, S. D. NY.)
