In July 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against WellPet for allegedly advertising dog foods – including Wellness® CORE® Adult Dry Ocean Whitefish, Herring Meal and Salmon Meal and Wellness® Complete Health Adult Dry Whitefish and Sweet Potato – as healthy and safe without warning consumers that the products contain arsenic and lead, which may harm dogs. (Zeiger et al v. WellPet LLC and Berwind Corp., Case No. 17-cv-4056, N. D. CA.)
