Winter Tonic Plus
“If you become ill, Winter Tonic Plus, along with Winter Balance II should be taken 4 times a day until better,” the maker and marketer of the remedy, Celletech, prescribes on the product page.
But is Winter Tonic Plus the seasonal elixir it purports to be? A recent FDA warning letter to Celletech cites numerous unapproved drug treatment claims appearing on product labeling and on celletech.com. Others, in addition to the aforementioned, include:
- “This new Winter Tonic Plus includes KrebsCycle Acids that helps feed and stimulate the cells of the body to help deal with new ‘winter illnesses’ more efficiently.”
- “Winter Tonic Plus is more than one seasons flu vaccine, it is 94 years of different types of ‘Winter Illnesses’, (1918 through 2017/18) along with the European Winter Illness types called La grippe.”
In its letter the FDA also refers to a pair of problematic claims for Easy Breath, which Celletech says helps “open breathing passages when they get constricted.”

Remember, readers, marketing products as having the ability to treat, cure, alleviate the symptoms of, or prevent developing diseases and disorders is simply not permitted by law without FDA approval. And FDA approval is only gained after a product has been subject to rigorous study and testing.

Only drugs can be marketed as having the ability to diagnose, cure, treat, prevent or mitigate a disease, and the only way for a product to gain legit drug status is by getting FDA approval, which means any product that doesn’t get FDA approval can’t say it has the ability to diagnose, cure, treat, prevent or mitigate a disease.
